Surrey Heath MRF System - 01/03/2003

Newly Installed MRF system for Surrey Heath B.C. can sort the lot. The system comprises of an infeed conveyor for the mixed plastic bottles and cans. The Mixed containers feed from the feed conveyor onto the sorting belt where the steel cans are removed by the magnetic overband conveyor and the aluminium cans removed manually. The plastic bottles are either left on the belt to feed the Baling machine direct or they can be sorted into storage bins, which can be fed into the baling machine by the hydraulic tipping device. Card and other sorted materials can be fed direct into the T50 Horizontal Bale press direct via it's own feed conveyor. There is a bottle piercing machine located at one of the sorting position which is used for the sorted PET plastic bottle prior to baling. The bottles require piercing to ensure a high density bale and to prevent the bales from breaking the straps / wires. A larger picture and details can be found on the MRF page.
